Taste the Diversity of Hong Kong Cuisine

Hong Kong’s cuisine is widely known for its diversity, with influences from the Western World, Southeast Asia, Japan, and the Orient. Because of this, it has earned a good reputation and has been named as “World’s Fair of Food” and “Gourmet Paradise”.

The restaurant industry of Hong Kong is one of its main contributors in its rising economy. The most served cuisine here is Chinese, since 98% of its country’s is made up of this ethnicity. The staple food are rice and noodles, along with healthy servings of vegetables.

Meat is typically served during celebrations. Most of the time, dishes are cooked with tofu or bean curd. Among the popular dishes are roast duck, poached chicken, moon cake, shark’s fin and dim sum. Hong Kong cuisine uses lightly seasoned taste.

The common ingredients in dishes are salted duck egg, Jujube (red date), dried sea foods like shrimp and scallop, Chinese sausage, cabbage, red bean, and Shiitake (mushroom). The dining places available range from five-star restaurants to street stalls.
