Hong Kong Events and Festivals

It would take a day to enumerate and discuss the many wonderful events and festivals in Hong Kong. These events and festivals also have various influences, creating something that is unique and spectacular. Some of the more popular festivals are Chinese New Year, Spring Lantern Festival, Tuen Ng Festival, Mid Autumn Festival or Moon Festival, Halloween, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. Chinese New Year is a time for the family, and most shops and restaurants close during this holiday.

During the Spring Lantern Festival Victoria Park in Causeway Bay is adorned with beautiful lanterns. The Tuen Ng Festival livens up the bay with dragon boat races. The Moon Festival also fills various parts of Hong Kong with lanterns and shops with mooncakes (Chinese pastries). New Year’s Eve is when Hong Kong comes alive with lots of parties and fireworks. Honk Kong is also a centre of exciting events ranging from world-class art exhibitions to sports events.
